# 4: Southside Represent! Teddy's Burger Joint Connects

Teddy's Burger Joint
Joint.  The word has many different meanings in the American English lexicon.  Joint is a noun, adjective, or verb that can be used in many different ways.  A joint is a place at which two or more things are joined.  A joint is the connection between bones that allows movement.  So a point where something comes together to create movement.  Okay. But in geologic terms it is a fracture or crack in a rock mass along which no movement occurs.  That's contradictory to the general term.

In slang, joint has many other meanings. A joint is a cheap or disreputable gathering place. A joint is a building or dwelling.   The "joint" is a prison. Of course, a joint is also a marijuana cigarette. According one dictionary, a joint is also slang for the penis. I'm no closer to understanding the many differing meanings of the word joint, but it really doesn't matter.  This is because Teddy's Burger Joint is neither a penis or a prison or even the connection between bones that allows for movement of the human body.  Teddy's Burger Joint is a location for gourmet homemade burgers, good beer and wine, an eclectic environment, and great company to be had with friends and family.  Best of all they have Sprecher Root Beer on tap.  Nothing beats amazing root beer on tap.  Nothing.  Unless of course you don't like root beer or you hate life itself, which are basically the same thing. They are practically interchangeable.  I mean, who hates root beer?  Not me, but moving on.  Teddy's is a restaurant you have to visit for so many reasons.  They offer a unique dining experience without being too kitschy.

Indoor picnic tables, concert stage, indoor heater, kids play room, outside fenced in sandbox, and a picture wall of losers and failures of intense burger challenges.  Can't beat a place that follows by the philosophy of the trophy generation, giving even losers trophies just for trying.  Hey, you aren't good enough but to make you feel important and respected and loved as an individual and keep you suffering from any sort of post traumatic stress from the failure that will ultimately undermine any future relationships you may have, we will take a picture of you to chronicle your failures for future patrons to see.  I think its great.  It may sound like I'm being negative about this approach but I love it.  These challenges are tough and people should be commended for trying and falling flat on their face.  Plus it makes those of us that could never beat a challenge like this feel better about ourselves.  Viva la Losers!  Keep em coming.
